Common Terms
Here are some common words you'll see:

Topic Explanation
Browser A browser is a "window" that allows you to view web pages. Examples of browsers include Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
Click When you're asked to "click," you need to position your mouse on a designated spot on your computer screen and press the left button on your mouse.
Home page A home page is the first page in a web site or in a section of a web site. It's an introductory page that contains buttons and/or words that connect you to other pages within the site. When you want to go to the home page in this web site, click on the top left corner of the screen.
Navigation bar A navigation bar is a stripe that runs along the top or side of the page. Within the navigation bar you'll find connections or buttons, called hyperlinks, to pages within the web site.
Sub-home page A sub-home page is another way to organize and navigate material on a web site. It helps you find additional information. To access the sub-home pages on this web site, look for the sub-home page buttons labeled as "My Benefits," "Healthy Living," "Financial Plans," and "Enroll Online."

Getting Around
There are several key ways to get around or "navigate" a website:

Topic Explanation
Back and Forward Buttons When you're asked to "click," you need to position your mouse on a designated spot on your computer screen and press the left button on your mouse.

Please note: Once you link to the Benefits Worksheet on the Enrollment site, by clicking on the "Enroll Online" main home page button, do not use the "Back" button at the top of your screen to go back — you'll lose any information you have entered.
Bread crumbs They provide a trail for you to follow back to the starting or entry point of the web site and may look something like this image below. Typically bread crumbs appear horizontally near the top of a web page, providing links back to each previous page that the user navigated through in order to get to the current page. This technique is also referred to as a bread crumb trail.
Cascade menus Throughout the site, you can use the cascade menus to navigate through the sub-home pages. For example, you can access the first cascade menu on the home page by placing your mouse over one of the main home page buttons.

You will see a white arrow tip wherever there is a cascade menu or additional level of cascade menus.
Hyperlinks To jump from one page to the next, click on a hyperlink. In general, text hyperlinks are easy to spot because they are underlined and in a contrasting color (like this). Graphic hyperlinks won't necessarily be an unusual color, but they will usually provide a clue that they are links. For example, they may look like buttons, or say "Continue" or "Click Here."

The final clue for finding hyperlinks: They will turn your cursor into a hand ( ) when your mouse runs over them.

Printing Tips To print a page from the PBG Benefits Online web site, check to see if there is a "Print Version" available. If so, click on "Print Version" and print that version of the page.

If you print a page directly from the web site, you may find the edges of the page are cut off in the printout. You can fix this by changing settings in the browser's File/Print Setup dialog. Either (a) change from "portrait" to "landscape" format, or (b) change the left and right margins from the default 0.75 inches to 0.25 inches (laser printers) or 0.35 inches (inkjet printers).

Scroll Bars To move vertically through all the information on a page, use the scroll bar on the right-hand side of your screen. To see more on a page, you can use your mouse to either click the arrowheads or drag the box on the scroll bar.
Side Navigation Buttons To jump from a sub-page to any other page, click on the side navigation buttons. As the name suggests, they will always be located on the left-hand side of the screen. Additionally, when you place your mouse over one of the side navigation buttons, a cascade menu will appear and show you your options.
Sub-Home Page Buttons To jump from the home page to one of the sub-home pages, click on sub-home page buttons labeled as "My Benefits," "Healthy Living," "Financial Plans," and "Enroll Online."

Additionally, to make it easier for you to navigate through the site, each section has a different color.
